Mr. and Mrs. Ikezawa with a young Hanako Ikezawa

Mr. and Mrs. Ikezawa (池沢夫妻 Ikezawa fusai) are the late parents of Hanako Ikezawa.

History[edit | edit source]

Not much is known about Hanako Ikezawa's parents. Still, ten years ago their house caught in flames at night for unknown reasons, not only burning their house down but losing their lives. Hanako's mother shielded her from the flames, resulting on the latter to survive from the flames that consumed their house at the cost of Mrs. Ikezawa's life.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Hanako Ikezawa was not only left alone from the aftermath from the accident but also most of her right side of her body was severely burned, leaving her scarred as a reminder of her parents' death. During the coming and the day of her birthday, she locks herself in her room. Lilly Satou theorizes that her birthday may also be the anniversary of her parents demise and that Hanako blames her own existence; however, Hanako would reveal later in her route that her parents' deaths had nothing to do with why she hates her birthday.

At one point in the CG showing Hanako's dolls, a small picture can be seen of a woman holding a baby. While this may be a picture of a baby Hanako and her mother, it's not commented on in the game.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

  • The surname Ikezawa means "pool, pond" (池) (ike) and "marsh" (沢) (sawa/zawa).
