"Katawa Shoujo (Disability Girls)" is an ADV-style ren'ai visual novel combining anime-style sprite/CG art with stylized photographic backgrounds, telling the story of [[Hisao|Hisao Nakai]], an aloof high school student whose life is changed by a previously unknown heart condition which leaves him weakened and requires being sent to a [[Yamaku_High_School|boarding school for the disabled]]. In contrast to most amateur productions, KS will have a word count/playtime consistent with most commercially produced VNs. Because of the sheer size of the project, it does not have a single scenario writer or 2-3 person staff, but instead has a separate path writer for each heroine.
