[[Hanako Ikezawa]] was not only left alone from the aftermath from the accident but also most of her right side of her body was severely burned, leaving her scarred as a reminder of her parents' death. During the coming and the day of her birthday, she locks herself in her room. [[Lilly Satou]] theorizes that her birthday may also be the anniversary of her parents demise and that Hanako blames her own existence; however, Hanako would reveal later in her route that her parents' deaths had nothing to do with why she hates her birthday.

At one point in the CG showing Hanako's dolls, a small picture can be seen of a woman holding a baby. While this may be a picture of a baby Hanako and her mother, it's not commented on in the game.
