Rika Katayama is a character that did not appear in Katawa Shoujo, but rather on the blog as an April Fools joke, along with Saki Enomoto. She is a second year student at Yamaku Academy who has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a condition not completely unlike Hisao's. Unlike him, however, she was diagnosed early in her life, so she has been in and out of treatments and operations that left her very delicate. The blog post she debuted in treated her as an additional girl that Hisao can pursue in an "expansion story."
