Rika Katayama is a character that appeared on the Katawa Shoujo blog as an April Fools joke (along with Saki Enomoto). The post treated her as an additional girl that Hisao can pursue in an "expansion story." Despite this, she is not present in the Katawa Shoujo game or its beta version.
Characteristics
She is a second year student at Yamaku Academy who has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a condition not unlike Hisao's. However, she was diagnosed early in her life, so has been in and out of treatments and operations. These have left her physically weak and she is often lost in thought.
