Talk:Rin's route/@comment-76.123.22.159-20200426234356

From Katawa Shoujo Wiki

Just finished this one. Same as before, I thank Fandom for allowing anonymous posts.

I really like Rin. I get her. In a way, I see myself in her. And so I really wanted to enjoy my time in the game with her.

But Hisao in Rin's route is a wishy-washy noncommittal brick wall of nonexpression. Except when he suddenly gets mad at someone who could never string him along the way he seems to think she did. He got angry at her for not treating him properly and he hadn't tried to know her. I'm glad he finally got around to it (if only just), but the fact of the matter is that Hisao comes across to me as a hypocrite that projects his apathy onto Rin. Rin was always looking for help; it's not her fault that she can't express those thoughts completely or coherently to someone else.

In other routes, I felt immersed as being Hisao. I understood what he was doing much more often that not. But for too much of Rin's route I could only watch as the weight of his ignorance pressed against her. I wanted to help. I felt relieved when, in the good ending, Rin finally cimbed up on that rock and showed the world herself.

I got mad when I saw that the code implies that Rin's neutral ending is the "true ending". But now it makes sense. Without the player's guidance, Hisao wouldn't come to understand Rin. The good ending is one where he understands her enough to let her go with her new understanding of herself.

I hate to end my review like this, but I have to. I love Rin. I hate her route. Frankly, I'm glad it's over. Here's hoping Hanako's route makes up for it
