From Katawa Shoujo Wiki

My quick impression on Rin and Hisao. Compared to other routes, Rin's route is permeated with phisolophical questions. 'Love' is one of them. I can sense how neither Rin nor Hisao could easily answer the question of 'love'. In some ways, both of them are overthinkers although quite differently: Rin is more abstract, while Hisao is more analytical.

Rin's apprehension towards Hisao's kindness is understandable. She is, compared to the rest of the Yamaku students, the most introverted, highly self-contained, and expresses herself most densely albeit in abstract and verbose manner. The nature of doing art as one's calling means she has to deal with uncertainty, self-doubt, and living as an eccentric. In sum, her 'castle' is her mind, thus she might feel defensive if she feels that she perceive that someone is entering her 'castle'. However, she is neither an isolationist nor an maladjusted kid; she seem to do fine with Emi, her roommate.
